We live in a unique and beautiful mixed zoned neighbourhood on the edge of the Cape Town city bowl.  As residents and corporate citizens living and working in the area we all have a duty to keep our area clean and safe, so that we and those who visit us can enjoy the streets and parks more fully.  That is why a group of dedicated residents established Gardens Watch - a community driven platform that ensures effective and quick response to criminal activity and ensures that members of the community are empowered with information via well developed communication channels.

The Gardens Neighbourhood Watch (Gardens Watch) is a partnership which involves the South African Police Service (SAPS), the Cape Town Central Community Policing Forum (CPF), local authorities, security service providers, businesses, and above all, individuals and families who want to make our neighbourhood a cleaner and safer place to live.

Gardens Watch is run and structured in terms of the Western Cape Provincial Constitution and Code of Conduct for Neighbourhood Watch Structures. We will soon be applying for for accreditation with the Western Province Department of Safety and Security in terms of Section 6 of the recently promulgated Western Cape Community Safety Act.

The Gardens Watch aims to help people and businesses protect themselves and their properties, and to reduce the fear of crime by means of active, visible citizen patrols, improved home security tips, greater vigilance, accurate reporting of suspicious incidents and crime, and by fostering a community spirit.  All these efforts engender a caring community once again, and reduce the opportunities for crime by increasing crime prevention awareness.

The Gardens Watch relies on voluntary participation of all who live and work in the area. Whether you are a home or flat owner, tenant, business owner, work from home, retiree, housewife/man or even a dog walker over the age of eighteen you can join the Gardens Watch today.
